Outflow Serving Day

This past weekend, I participated in a really cool event that we called Outflow Serving Day. Our church had over 800 volunteers step up to serve the surrounding community through a variety of projects. I personally worked with a group of people at the home of a single mother who lives in a Habitat for Humanity home. She has a home day care business that has been deeply impacted by the economic downturn. It was amazing to see what a group of people could pull off in such a short time. Her landscaping looks great now. My wife and I will probably stop back by periodically and make sure she knows how to weed it properly.

As I reflect on the day of service, I am reminded that I serve in a great congregation. People are eager to serve others if they are given the opportunity. I keep hearing story after story of positive experiences, and I hoping that many good seeds were planted to encourage people to check out a more intimate relationship with God. Saturday was a great day to serve.
